Don't expect to find all the common dishes you might find at traditional Mexican restaurants in the U. S. like burritos or chimichangas. What you will find is South Mexican regional home cooked recipes that are truly authentic and delicious. Their spicy mole sauce chicken entree is amazingly flavorful and satisfying. Their pazole soup is teaming with a complex medley of spices and flavors. They also have a wide range of South American beverages like a tart tamarind drink. Many of their appetizers and entrees come with warm, freshly cooked, handmade tortillas. Amazing salsa and freshly made guacamole makes this authentic Oxacana restaurant a unique dining experience you will want to keep coming back for.

Had them today and so glad we came. We're from Houston and I was getting home sick and their food was a great comfort. Their mole was delicious as well as their Guacamole. Everything was fresh and the service was amazing. Would come back when in the area

This place is the closest to authentic you’ll get in Vermont! The Pozole was amazing, beans were perfectly seasoned and saucy, the queso deliciously melty, the mole with just the right proportions of seasoning. if you’re used to tex mex you’ll not find it here. the restaurant itself is not fancy or over decorated. simple and most importantly CLEAN. waitress was delightful and prompt. really enjoyed our experience.

The food is out of this world. This is a hidden gem worthy of taking a side trip if you’re going to/from Burlington or just on the hunt for authentic cuisine. Yes, I can see how some commenters may think this place has slow service, however, I think that comes from fast food mentality and is a little uncultured. Relax and enjoy some face to face connection with a friend or loved one while your FRESHLY prepared meal is cooking. Can’t wait? Order ahead! We aren’t local, but if we were we would be back for date nights often. I really hope the locals find this little place and give it the love it deserves. We’ll be back next year!!

Amaaaaazing authentic Mexican food, truly one of the bests I’ve had. Everything was fresh and delicious and they have amazing vegetarian options. The server was a very sweet and caring girl A little bit pricey but the taste makes up for it. Would go back !!

El Comal is something different for the Burlington area. It's not the small fancy tacos and cocktails that you get at El Cortijo, but it's also not the big plates of *some variation of tortilla with meat cheese and vegetable* that you get at Casa Real / Casa Grande. El Comal is serving legit Oaxacan Mexican food and it is excellent. I urge you to check this place out because it's very easy to miss: It's unassumingly tucked into Taft's corner Williston. They don't have a website with photos of the requisite food porn. The space is pretty tiny. (as of February when I visited): Their decor is completely minimalist. They don't have a liquor license. Everyone whines about not having authentic Mexican food in Vermont. This is it! I don't know what else to say. The tortillas are hand made and you can immediately tell. We had the mole and the enfrijolada and they were excellent, with a complex flavor that Casa Real is not going to give you (although to be fair, they will give you a margarita the size of your head. I like them too). My only, singular complaint was that my black beans were a little cold by the time they arrived at the table. But even at lukewarm, they were miles better than the "I swear they just dumped it of out a can" black beans that I've had at El Gato.

This isn’t just the best restaurant in Williston, it might be the best in all of Vermont. It completely outshines any other Mexican restaurant in New England. The flavors are incredibly fresh and authentic, and the service is amazing. Definitely not your typical Tex-Mex experience. Having spent months traveling through Latin America, I can honestly say this is some of the best food I’ve ever had. I live in Boston and would happily make the trip just to eat here. Truly, every single dish on the menu is outstanding.

This food surpassed all expectations. So tasty! We got the sweet mole, the tamale with salsa verde and lengua taco and everything including drinks were amazing. The agua Fresca wasn’t too sweet and nicely spiced. Highly recommend. Also great service and food came fast!
